Mold & Environmental Exposure Analysis

Independent Scientific Analysis by Cynthia Adinig

Are you experiencing health problems after living or working in a building with mold, water damage, sewage contamination, or poor indoor air quality?Have your symptoms worsened while inside a particular building, improved after leaving, or returned following re-exposure?

I provide independent scientific analysis examining environmental exposure histories, documented health changes, individual vulnerability, and recovery patterns.

As a researcher who has personally experienced years of mold exposure while managing complex chronic illnesses, I understand how difficult it can be to connect environmental changes with years of medical records and fluctuating symptoms. My analyses examine the full health timeline before, during, and after suspected exposure, using submitted documentation, relevant scientific literature, and quantitative analytical methods.

Mold Illness, CIRS & Sick Building Syndrome

Health concerns associated with mold and water-damaged buildings can involve a range of symptoms and medical conditions. Some individuals experience respiratory irritation, allergic reactions, or worsening asthma. Others report fatigue, headaches, cognitive difficulties, or complex symptoms that they believe may be associated with their environment. People seeking answers may encounter terms such as mold illness, Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS), sick building syndrome, or building-related illness. These terms are not interchangeable, and the scientific evidence supporting them differs. I examine the available environmental and clinical information without assuming a particular diagnosis or cause.

My analysis can evaluate:

  • Documented mold and water-damage exposure histories

  • Symptoms associated with time spent in a specific building

  • Changes in existing chronic conditions

  • Clinical findings and healthcare utilization

  • Environmental sensitivity and individual vulnerability

  • Improvement following relocation or remediation

  • Recurring symptoms following renewed exposure

  • Persistent functional limitations after exposure reduction

Did Your Symptoms Improve After Leaving a Moldy Building?

What happens after exposure changes can be an important part of the evidence. A person may experience significant improvement after leaving a water-damaged home, returning to work in another building, or completing remediation. Others may experience recurring symptoms after re-entering an affected environment, or continue experiencing limitations despite reduced exposure. These patterns are worth examining scientifically.

I compare available health and environmental records before, during, and after exposure, including symptom frequency, clinical findings, medication changes, healthcare utilization, and functional recovery. Where the documentation permits, I identify measurable changes, alternative explanations, and limitations in the evidence. The goal is to understand the full health trajectory, not simply determine whether mold was present.

About Cynthia Adinig

Researcher | Federal Health Policy Advisor | Long COVID Subject Matter Expert

I'm an award-winning researcher, federal health policy advisor, Long COVID subject matter expert and founder of CYNAERA, where I develop advanced quantitative intelligence frameworks and patent-pending technologies to investigate complex chronic illnesses, environmental vulnerability, individual susceptibility, and long-term health outcomes. My research spans Long COVID, ME/CFS, Lyme disease, infection-associated chronic conditions, environmental health, diagnostic development, and the economic and functional impacts of chronic illness. My work includes federal health advisory service, scientific merit review for the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI), and advising the HHS TOPx AI and Tech Sprint for Invisible Illness.

I'm also the inventor of Bioadaptive Systems Therapeutics™ (BST), a patent-pending technology developed to explore individualized approaches to complex chronic conditions, including Long COVID, ME/CFS, Lyme disease, autoimmune illness, and potential gene-editing and remission pathways But my understanding of environmental illness is also deeply personal. I've spent years living in water-damaged environments with mold exposure while managing complex chronic illnesses, including Long COVID, ME/CFS, and dysautonomia. I've experienced firsthand how environmental conditions can coincide with changes in symptoms, mobility, cognitive functioning, and daily activities, and how difficult those changes can be to document across years of medical records.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Basic and Express Analysis?

Both provide the same focused scientific analysis of one primary environmental exposure and associated health changes. Basic Analysis costs $295 with delivery within five business days, while Express Analysis costs $495 and provides priority processing with 24-hour delivery.

Do I need professional mold testing?

No. Environmental records, photographs, maintenance histories, inspection findings, and other documentation may support an analysis. Professional mold testing is not required, although missing objective environmental evidence may limit the conclusions.

Can you analyze mold illness, CIRS, or sick building syndrome?

Yes. I can examine environmental exposure histories and documented health changes involving suspected mold illness, Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS), sick building syndrome, and other building-related health concerns. The analysis evaluates available scientific evidence, including areas of uncertainty. CIRS remains a debated diagnostic framework, and my services do not establish or confirm medical diagnoses.

Can I submit years of medical records?

Absolutely. Longitudinal documentation is encouraged, including extensive medical histories spanning several years. There are no arbitrary document page limits. Comprehensive records can provide valuable insight into baseline health, symptom progression, treatment changes, functional limitations, and recovery patterns.

What if my symptoms improved after leaving a moldy building?

Post-exposure recovery is a central component of my analytical approach. I examine changes in symptoms, healthcare utilization, and functioning following relocation, remediation, or reduced exposure. When sufficient data are available, I can also evaluate recurring symptoms following re-exposure.

What if my symptoms continued after leaving the environment?

Persistent symptoms, partial recovery, and fluctuating health patterns can also be analyzed. The report evaluates available evidence and potential contributing factors without assuming that continued symptoms establish permanent exposure-related injury.

Can I share my report with an attorney?

Yes. You may share your report with attorneys, healthcare professionals, researchers, or other individuals of your choosing.

I provide independent scientific analysis, not legal advice, litigation strategy, or determinations of liability.

Can I book remote expert witness testimony?

Yes. I offer scientific expert consultations starting at $350 per hour and remote deposition or hearing testimony starting at $500 per hour.

Engagements are subject to availability, the requested scope of testimony, court authorization, and applicable expert qualification requirements.

Can I purchase an analysis outside the United States?

Yes. My services are available to eligible international clients where payment processing and applicable data-handling requirements permit.

Analyses are conducted remotely, and reports are delivered electronically in English.

Do you offer free or reduced-cost analysis?

Yes. Through my Research Access Program, I reserve up to two complimentary consultations per month and offer $149 reduced-cost Basic Analyses for qualifying individuals experiencing financial hardship. Priority consideration is given to individuals receiving Medicaid, SNAP, or equivalent means-tested assistance internationally. Availability is limited.

Can your analysis prove that mold caused my illness?

My analysis examines documented environmental exposures, health changes, longitudinal patterns, and relevant scientific research.

Findings may identify associations and contributing factors worth further evaluation, but they do not independently establish medical causation or provide a clinical diagnosis.
